—Medical Fair India is the biggest international exhibition in India and has been successfully held for 16 years. It is an international exhibition and conference on diagnostic, medical equipment and technology. Medical Fair India 2011 will be from 25 to 27 March in New Delhi, attracting almost 6,000 visitors and more than 250 exhibitors all over the world.

—At present, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) estimates that India is home to an estimated 50.8 million diabetics, a number that will increase to 87 million (8.4% of the country’s adult population) by 2030. Results from national survey of 5,516 diabetes individuals (both type 1 and type 2) in India showed that mean estimated annual direct costs of diabetes were Rs.4,724 (US$ 101.95) per individual including drug treatment, monitoring and check-ups, and Rs.2,343 (US$ 50.63) for hospitalization, indirect costs were Rs.12,756 (US$ 275.31) including measures of productivity and income loss through illness in earning and non-earning family members and total costs were Rs.19,914 (US$ 429.74).
